Stanley – William “Bart” Turner, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

The family will host guests Saturday (Feb. 6th) at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church, Stanley; with a Mass of Christian Burial starting at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in St. Theresa’s Cemetery, with Military Honors. There will be a reception at the Stanley Fire House, following the service.

Bart was born in Canandaigua in 1925. to Beatrice P. and William B. Turner. He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated from Canandaigua Academy in 1943.Bart proudly served in the Army Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant during World War II. He went on to attend the University of Rochester and married Ann Marie Thompson in 1951.

During the 1950s, he was elected Canandaigua City Treasurer. Afterward, Bart worked for the New York State Department of Audit and Control, conducting municipal audits throughout New York State.

The proud father of six children, Bart enjoyed golf, camping, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his beloved family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ann; children, Bill (Pam), Mary (Neil) Lachant, Dan, Mike (Laurie), Maggie (Tom) Read and John; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Bart is predeceased by his parents, Beatrice P. and William B. Turner; his sister, Mary June Steinmetz; and his grandparents, William C. and Katherine Turner.
