Obituary

Middlesex- Thomas Campbell Hetherington, age 46, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 in Inlet, NY, as a result of a snowmobile accident.

Friends may call Saturday, Dec. 15th from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Rd., Canandaigua, NY. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. at Crosswinds. Burial will be in Overackers Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Hose Co., Box 145, Middlesex, NY 14507; or Helping Hounds Rescue, 6606 Kinne Rd., Syracuse, NY 13214.

Tom was born Feb. 1, 1972 in Niagara Falls, NY. He graduated from Churchville-Chili High School in 1990; and from Monroe Community College in 1993, with an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Tom married Karen Rath on May 11, 1996 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hamlin, NY.

Tom had worked as a Fire Investigator for the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control since 2002. He was a past-Chief of the Churchville Volunteer Fire Dept, and past-member of the Spencerport Volunteer Ambulance and Monroe Ambulance. Tom was currently an Assistant Chief of the Middlesex Hose Co.

Tom was an avid hunter, boater and snowmobiler. He was a tinkerer and handyman who could build anything. Tom also loved music and playing his guitar. Tom loved his family and his dogs, Taz, his Accelerant Detection Canine, and Clare, the family pet.

Tom is survived by his wife of 22 years, Karen; his parents, V. Thomas (Maureen) Hetherington and Judy Campbell; one brother, Scott (Anne) Hetherington; extended family, Jennifer (Matthew) Warner and Connor, Morgan and Brianna Warner, and Robert (Heather) Huether and Aiden, and Victoria Huether; his mother and father-in-law, Sandy and Paul Rath; two brothers-in-law, Paul (Deborah) Rath and Carl (Chris) Rath; sister-in-law, Beth (Graham) Powell; 7 nieces and nephews, Lainie and Lydia Hetherington, Luke, Elizabeth, John and Noah Rath and Jennifer Rath; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tom was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Craig Rath.
