Obituary
Penn Yan – Thomas C. Wilkie, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, after a long illness.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday (Dec. 16th) at 10 a.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham.
A Private Burial will be at Brooks
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Yates County, 1216 Rte. 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Tom was the son of the late George and Ethel Wilkie. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962. He was retired from HEP Sales in Geneva. During his lifetime, he had also worked at Shay Oil and Gas in Penn Yan and at Kodak.
Tom was an avid Dirt Racing fan and enjoyed fast cars all his life. He was a member of the Two Cylinder Club. Tom and his wife attended many John Deere Expos.
Tom owned an apple orchard on the home farm on Armstrong Road. He enjoyed planting trees, pulling brush, mowing lawn and working on the land. Tom was an animal lover. He also enjoyed traveling with his camper and traveled through all the Provinces of Canada, and in retirement to Florida in the winter.
Tom is survived by his wife, Ellen Porter Wilkie; son, Ronald (Valerie) Wilkie; daughter, Kathleen Wilkie; three grandchildren, Rebecca Wilkie, Tyler Wilkie and Matt Campo; and brothers, Phillip (Carol) Wilkie and George W. (Patricia) Wilkie.
The Wilkie family wants to thank everyone at The Homestead for the excellent care they gave Tom.
