Stephen S. Smith – 71 – Stanley, NY
On June 22, 2023, Steve passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was extremely brave and strong. Steve was born on November 27, 1951, in Rochester, NY to parents Lee and Margery Smith. Steve grew up in the apple country of Marion, NY and attended the local high school, graduating in 1969. Being a sports lover, he played basketball and baseball while attending high school. From 1971-1973 Steve enlisted in the Air Force and worked as a dental assistant. During a portion of his time in the Air Force he was stationed in Spain.
Steve loved music and attended many concerts in his lifetime. The Rolling Stones were his all-time favorite rock band, though he loved music of all kinds. He loved to meet new people and had a knack for striking up conversation with just about anyone. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and played Fantasy Football each season. He enjoyed going to the movie theater and especially loved taking his granddaughters Lily and Rosie to see the latest animated films. Steve also enjoyed the outdoors. He loved swimming in Canandaigua Lake and fishing in Seneca Lake. Most recently he found joy in camping with his grandson Allen, as well as riding his electric bike all over the Finger Lakes region.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Cynthia Smith, children; Michael Weber, Lindsey (William) Tidd, grandchildren; Allen Weber, Lily Tidd & Rosemary Tidd. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Smith, and sister, Susan Smith as well as many brothers & sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by parents Lee Smith & Margery (Sharpe) Smith.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services as were Steve’s wishes. There will be a Celebration of Life scheduled later for family and friends.

We want to share condolences to Cindy, Michael, Lindsey and the entire family. We were fortunate to have met Steve over 40 years ago and he always had a good word to share about so many things. He had a great way of making us laugh and he will be missed by Dustin and Ryan too.
