Stephen Daniel Hershey

Gorham- It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, uncle, friend- Stephen Daniel Hershey, age 57. He passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at Thompson Hospital.

Friends may call on Friday, January 6^th from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham.  A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Jan 7^th at 11:00 am St. John’s Lutheran Church, 514 E Swamp Rd., Penn Yan, NY 14527.

Steve was born on December 22, 1965, to Joan Jensen Colf and Daniel H. Hershey. He graduated from Marcus Whitman High School Class of 1984. He worked many years for his family business, Gorham Oil, and Scott Smith Drywall.

When Steve was a young boy, he enjoyed spending time with his Grandmother and Grandfather at the Steam Pageant. Steve was a valued player in baseball and basketball at Marcus Whitman High School. He often enjoyed snowmobiling with his family and friends. He was a skilled hunter and was a dedicated Buffalo Bills Fan. He also had a brief stint of stock car racing (OM Racing). He enjoyed many family vacations at Anna Marie Island and Aruba.

Steve is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandy Hershey; children, Jake Hershey and Maddi (Trevor) Black; his mother, Joan Colf; his father, Daniel Hershey; brothers, David (Amanda) Hershey and Chris (Stephanie) Hershey; sisters-in-law, Diane (Andy) Griffith, Donna (Mark) Detro, Elaine Bodine and Karen (Paul) Ojeda; brother-in-law, David (Lynn) Bodine; niece, Missy (Adam) Sanford; as well as many nieces and nephews; and 3 step-brothers Brian, Jeff and Scott Colf.

Steve was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Jake “Pop Pop” and Adelaide Hershey; maternal grandparents, Viola and Perle Corey; nephew, Ethan Hershey; mother and father-in-law, Raymond and Patricia Bodine; step-father, Larry Colf; step-mother, Barbara Hershey; sister-in-law, Kathy Lisi; and step-brother, Lawrence Colf.
