Geneva – Shirley J. Hemminger, age 91, passed on Oct. 12, 2018.

Friends may call on Saturday, November 10th, from 10 to 1p.m. at Kenneth J.Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sand Hill Cemetery following the funeral.

Shirley was born on August 13, 1927 in Geneva to the late Charles Millerd and Margaret Jauncey Millerd. Shirley married Howard Hemminger Sr. on April 12, 1947 in Seneca Number Nine Presbyterian Church, where they were members. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before Howard’s passing in 2012. The family they raised together was their greatest triumph and ongoing legacy.

Shirley was a talented stain glass creator and accomplished seamstress. She loved caring for her yard and garden and spending time at the Geneva YMCA. Shirley did the bookkeeping for the family farm, H. J. Hemminger & Son.

Shirley is survived by her 4 children, Howard (Carol) Hemminger Jr., Cindy (Rick) Phillips, Susan Hemminger (Steve Sloat), Sandy (Gary) Antinelli; 6 grandchildren, Philip (Lori) Hemminger, Laurie Hemminger, Jonathan (Megan) Phillips, Matthew (Tina) Phillips, Elizabeth (Marc) Gardner and Nathan (Sara) Phillips; 10 great-grandchildren, Philip II, Andy (Nicole) and Sara Hemminger, and Andrew (Cortney), Christopher, Timothy, Julia, Zachary and Brielle Phillips, and Parker Gardner; and 5 great great-grandchildren, Addyson and Avalyn Hemminger and Rylee, Landon, and Madigan Phillips; her twin brother Oakleigh (Pauline) Millerd; sister, Katherine Green; several nieces, nephews and friends.
