Obituary
Crystal Beach- Roger “Poppy” Lead, age 84, died Sunday, April 28, 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday (May 3rd) from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Crystal Beach Fire House.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Ada Lead, c/o Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 201, Gorham, NY 14461.
Roger was born in Honeoye. As a younger man, he had worked on an area farm. Roger was retired from the NYS DOT, where he worked for 25 years as a heavy equipment operator. After his retirement he worked at the Gorham and Shortsville Kraut factories; and later as a Security Guard for Crosman Arms.
Roger was a life member and past-Fire Chief of the Crystal Beach Fire Department, with 60 years of service. He was also a member of the Crystal Beach Fire Police, and the Ontario County Fire Police Association.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Ada Gavette Lead; and by his children, Robin (John) Potter, Sr. of Clifton Springs, Mike (Michelle) Lead of Arizona, Becky (Paul) VanHousen of Penn Yan, Melissa (Scott) Bordwell of Crystal Beach and Michelle (James) Adams of Reno, Nevada. He is also missed by 6 grandchildren, John (Stephanie) Potter, Jr. of Clifton Springs, Sam (Taylor) Justice of Missouri, Brandon Bordwell and Jadon Bordwell, both of Crystal Beach, Alissa Adams and Lucas Adams, both of Reno, Nevada; and his 3 great-grandchildren, Rylan Potter, Brycen Potter and Harper Justice. Roger is also survived by 1 brother, Peter (Arlene) Lead of Honeoye; and 1 sister, Diane (Mark) Jensen of Batavia.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Harriet Pestle Lead; 1 brother, Everett Lead, and 1 sister, Lucille Lead.
