Obituary
Lorraine/Rushville- Roberta Shelmidine Stillman, age 89, of Rushville, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
Roberta was born January 1, 1928 in Lorraine, NY to the late Everett P. Shelmidine and Josephine McClear Shelmidine. She graduated from Adams High School. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Rev. Leon F. Stillman; son Alan; sisters Isabelle Averys and Helen Farman and Betty Shelmidine; brothers Jack E. Shelmidine and E. Paul Shelmidine.
Roberta was a loving mother and homemaker. She was an active member of the Rushville United Methodist Church. She held past offices with the United Methodist Women in the Local, District and Conference of Northern New York, and in the Northeast Jurisdiction for the United Methodist Women. She loved giving to Friendship House and to others, and was a member of Rushville Tuesday Club.
Roberta is survived by six children – Elwin (Pam) Stillman, Diane Stillman, Marvin (Susan) Stillman, Marcia Stillman, Wayne Stillman, and Cathy Stillman; two brothers – Robert “Bunny” Shelmidine and Stanley (Ilene) Shelmidine; two sisters – Madeline (Joseph) Segouin, and Ida (Stanley) Holland; sister-in-law, Jean Shelmidine; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A brief Burial Ceremony will be held in Adams Rural Cemetery on Friday, June 9th at 9:30 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the Lorraine United Methodist Church.
