Obituary

Penn Yan – Robert Richard Mosich, Sr., age 87, died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at The Homestead in Penn Yan.

 Friends may call Thursday (May 26th) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will be held Friday (May 27th) at 11 a.m. at the Seneca #9 Presbyterian Church. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Number Nine Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca Presbyterian Church, 4414 Number Nine Rd., Stanley, NY 14561.

Bob was born March 21, 1935 in Queens, New York. He was the son of the late William Mosich and Edna Lohnam Mosich. Bob graduated from Phelps High School. He served in the U.S. Marines from February 1953 until February 1956, serving in Korea.

Bob married Esther Christine Sloth on March 10, 1956 at Seneca #9 Presbyterian Church. He retired as a boiler operator at Seneca Foods in Geneva, NY.

Bob loved tractors, no matter the color. He also loved trains and going on train trips.  Bob was an avid deer hunter, and went on his last hunt three years ago.

Bob was a former Commander of the Gorham V.F.W. On May 14, 2017 he traveled to Washington, D.C.  with Honor Flight, with his son, Bob Jr., as his Guardian.

Bob is survived by two daughters, Deborah Compher and Donna (Phillip) Peek; son, Robert (Jenny) Mosich, Jr; four grandchildren, Amanda Mosich, Christine (Kyle) Mosich-Barkley, Heather Peek and Matthew Peek; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Mosich and Nancy (Tony) Pitifer; two brothers-in-law, Bruce (Jean) Sloth and Paul (Marilyn) Sloth; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Esther in 2017; and two brothers, William F. Mosich and Paul Mosich; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.
