Robert is a direct descendent of Edward Hall, Sr. and Jr., whom are considered the founders of Hall, NY, having arrived in 1801. Robert was born to Roy and Marion Hall in Geneva, NY on April 28th, 1931. Raised by his father and primarily his older sister Edith, Robert attended grade school in Hall and high school in Gorham, NY, graduating in 1948. Following graduation, a “fun” trip to the state fair with his father turned into a visit to the US Air Force recruiting tent. (We suspect this was no accident) So began a 21 year career in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1968.

While stationed in Wiesbaden West Germany, Robert met his beloved wife, Lotte Barenz. Together, they would have six (6) children. Following retirement from the Air Force, Robert returned to Hall, NY with his family to occupy the Hall Tower House. Robert was immediately hired by New York State Electric & Gas and worked at the Dresden, NY Power plant, rising to the level of Shift Foreman. During this time, Robert pursued his life-long passion to be a farmer, and developed a roadside market that became well known in the area. Robert’s son, Robert Jr., further developed the market and for 2 decades there would be no better place to buy sweet corn than the Hall family farm.

Following twenty years with NYSEG, Robert retired for a second time. During his retirement Robert spent much of his time farming, gardening and making maple syrup. Robert also had a passion for helping others, and volunteered countless hours in hospitals and with Foodlink. Robert spent his final years living at Ashton Place of Clifton Springs, NY.

Robert is survived by his children Dr. Yvonne Hall of Bedford, MA, Dr. Bruce (Pamela) Hall of Carlisle, MA, Patricia (Gordon) Herod of Stanley, NY, Robert R. (Cindy) Hall, Jr. of Hall, NY, Dr. Lynn (Kevin Smith) Hall of Potsdam, NY, and Steven (Rebecca) Hall of Fairport, NY; and his brother, Roy (Marcia) Hall of Granada. In addition to his children, Robert is survived by 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.

The Hall Family wishes to thank the staff at Ashton Place and Clifton Springs Nursing Home for making his final years comfortable.
