Obituary

Gorham- Robert L. Gage, age 76, died Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his home.

Friends may call Wednesday (May 4th) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday (May 5th) at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gorham Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gorham Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 123, Gorham, NY 14461; or to the Gorham Rotary Club, c/o Sylvia Schepisi, 5620 Bristol Rd., Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Bob was a longtime area contractor. He was the Building Inspector and Zoning Officer for the City of Canandaigua, retiring in 2005. Bob was also a former Zoning Officer for the Town of Gorham.

Active in the Gorham community, Bob was a member of the Gorham Fire Company and President of the Gorham Cemetery Association. He was on the Board of Education for the Marcus Whitman Central School District for 12 years. He was an avid farm-toy collector.

Bob was a 40 year member of the Gorham Rotary Club; and was twice named a Paul Harris Fellow. He was proud of helping convert the former Gorham Presbyterian Church building into the Gorham Free Library. Working with Gorham Rotarians, Bob spent many Saturdays helping rebuild a widow’s home in Gang Mills, NY, that had been destroyed by the Hurricane Agnes Flood in 1972.

Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Sharon H. Gage; children, Richard (Lucinda) Gage, Carol Gage and D. Robert (Tiffany) Gage, and beloved grandchildren, Ranita, Ryan and Ethan Gage, and Will, Ava and Lillian Gage; brother, James (June) Gage; sister, Helen (Leonard) Lambert; sisters-in-law, Joan Gage, Diane (David) Fox and Lois (Kagey) Barrow; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Lynette) Hey and Harold (Susan) Hey; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by an infant son, Ryan; parents, Clarence and Lillie Harvey Gage; brothers, Wallace Gage and George (Marge) Gage; and sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Dunton.

The family wishes to thank the staff on the 5500 wing at Rochester General Hospital.
