Obituary
Geneva- Richard L. Close, age 81, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at home.
Family and friends may call Sunday, (Feb. 5th) from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Golisano Children’s Hospital, 601 Elmwood Ave., Rochester, NY 14642.
Richard was a graduate of Geneva High School in the Class of 1953. He married Janice Clark Close on June 7, 1958 at the Geneva Baptist Church. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a woodworker, enjoyed bird watching, gardening and camping.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janice Clark Close; daughter, Pamela (David) Madziarz; son, Peter Close; two grandchildren, Kristy Lynn (Kyle) Mason and Daniel Cy Madziarz; two grandpuppies, Ryder and Buck; two sisters, Sally (Charles) Meabon and Terri (Lester) Sandifur; brother, Harlow “Bud” (Anna) Close; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harlow and Margaret Lindsey Close; step-mother, Thelma Close; and sister, Beverly June Snow.
