Obituary

Rushville- Norman C. Holtz, 83, died Friday, May 4, 2018 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Friends may call Friday (May 11th) from 12 Noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Rushville Congregational Church. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:30 p.m.

Burial with Full Military Honors will be held Saturday (May 12th) at 11 a.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Shortsville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance, 817 Rte. 245, Middlesex, NY 14507; or the Rushville Hose Co., P.O. Box 51, Rushville, NY 14544.

Norm was born in Clifton Springs, NY on May 24, 1934. He was the son of Charles and Rachel Houghton Holtz. Norm served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked at PAPEC in Shortsville, as a Foreman for 30 years, and at Smith Metal Works in Newark as a welder, for 19 years. After retirement he was a Bus Driver for Marcus Whitman Central Schools.

Norm and his wife, Barbara, lived in Shortsville for many years. They moved to Rushville in 1998. He was an animal lover who also loved fishing, camping, gardening and mowing grass. Norm also enjoyed his old International and Allis Chalmers tractors.
He was a hard worker, who never gave up when he faced many medical challenges toward the end of his life.

Norm is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara; three children, Norma (Kevin) Clark, Wayne (Stephanie) Holtz and Kimberly (Matthew) Hyde; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Steven, Patrick (Cari), Rachel, Jessica and Jack; two great-grandchildren, Collin and Mollie; mother-in-law, Jane Pulsipher; sister-in-law, Julie Harris; nephew, Jerry (Tanya) Hoover; and his best friend and buddy, “Buster”.

Norm was predeceased by his parents; and his sister and brother-in-law, Glennis and Chuck Hoover.
