Obituary
Middlesex/Naples- Mary Esther Shay, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 18, 2021.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday (June 26th) at 11 a.m. at the Middlesex United Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Hose Co., P.O. Box 145, Middlesex, NY 14507; or the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance, 817 Rte. 245, Middlesex, NY 14507.
Mary was born in Middlesex, NY to Clifford and Martha Fox DeWick. She was a graduate of Middlesex Valley High School and attended Rochester Business Institute.
Mary farmed with her husband, Duane. She also drove school bus for Marcus Whitman for 19 years; and was an EMT for the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance for 12 years. Mary was the Town of Italy Court Clerk for 15 years. Most of all, Mary was a devoted wife to Duane, and a loving mother to her four children.
Mary is survived by her husband of 68 years, Duane C. Shay; two daughters, Lorraine (Ed) Brockman and Lisa (Mike) Salotto; one son, Duane M. (Chris) Shay; 11 grandchildren, Chad (Stephanie) Betts, Dana (Paul) Harkin and Katie (Nick Baranowski) Brockman; Tanya (Steve) Roche and Matthew Shay; David (Hannah) Corcoran, Jennifer Corcoran, Michael Salotto and Steven (Samantha DeLeo) Salotto; and Michael Shay and Ashley (Troy) Daggett; and two step-grandchildren, Amanda Cook and Bob Brockman; and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Henry) Earl and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by one son, David Shay; and one grandson, Eric Salotto.
