Canandaigua- Lawrence M. “Butch” McGory, Sr., age 68, died Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his home, after a long illness.

A Celebration of Butch’s Life will be held Saturday (August 27th) from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Gorham Fire House, 4676 Kearney Rd., Stanley, NY.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ontario-Yates Hospice, 756 Pre-Emption Rd., Geneva, NY 14456.

Butch was the son of the late Edward and Lillian Eicke McGory. He was the baby of the family of 10 children. He attended Gorham Central School. Butch served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a car salesman for 43 years at several different dealerships. At the end of his career he owned Casual Auto Sales on Rtes. 5 & 20 east of Canandaigua.
He was an avid Nascar fan. Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.

Family was important to Butch. He loved his kids and grandkids. Butch enjoyed horseshoes and playing poker and euchre.

Butch is survived by his wife of 29 years, Rosemary Forbes McGory; son, Phil (Donna) Bassage, daughter, Laurie (Rich) Gabbard, son, Jim (Christine) McGory, son, Chris (Audrey) Picchi, son, Lawrence “Mike” McGory, Jr. and son, Shaun (Samantha) McGory; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 8 siblings, Gerald McGory, John (Marie) McGory, Fran (Jane) McGory, Jim McGory, William (Gayle) McGory, Peggy Liberatore, Ann (Ed) Coelho and Edward (Barb) McGory, Jr.; sister-in-law, Shelia (Leon) Nellis; and by many nieces and nephews.

Butch was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Don McGory; and his brother-in-law, Dale Forbes.
