John F. “Jack” Voss 1932 – 2015

Middlesex- John F. “Jack” Voss, 83, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center in Canandaigua.

Friends may call Saturday (Nov. 21st) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Overackers Cemetery in Middlesex. A reception will follow at the Middlesex Firehall. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday (Nov. 28th) at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa’s Church in Stanley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Hose Co., Box 145, Middlesex, NY 14507; or to the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance, 817 Rte. 245, Middlesex, NY 14507.

Jack was the son of the late Frank J. Voss and Christina Hoskam Voss. He was born in Webster, NY. Jack graduated from Edison Tech High School in Rochester. He served in the Navy from 1952-1954, during the Korean War. Jack was an owner/operator of Middlesex TV for 17 years; and had been the manager of Rice’s TV in Canandaigua for many years. He also was a school bus driver for Marcus Whitman Central School. Jack served as a Justice of the Peace in the Town of Middlesex for 35 years; and was a Town Board member for several years.

Jack was a life member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parrish. He was a member of the Ham Radio Operators Club. Jack was also a lifetime member of the Middlesex Conversation Club and of the Sierra Club. He was a dedicated member of the Middlesex Fire Department for 48 years, and had served as its President, and as its Treasurer for 25 years.

Jack is survived by four children, Frank (Elizabeth) Voss, Jeanne (Richard) Savage, Kathy (Chris) Achtschin and Joanie Voss Dean; his son-in-law, Alan Williams; one niece and nephew, Elizabeth Ferris (Doug) and Alan (Jackie) Ferris; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Jean Voss in 2007; and by his daughter, Mary Lee Williams in 2014.
