Obituary

Hall- Jean Ethel Williams Turnbull, 91, of Hall, NY, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016.

A private funeral service will be held, with burial in Number Nine Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Union Congregational United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 56, Hall, NY 14463; or Seneca #9 Presbyterian Church, 4414 Number Nine Rd., Stanley, NY 14561.

Born October 12, 1924, in Sayre, PA, Jean was the daughter of Clyde and Christine Williams. She attended Geneva High School, where she met and fell in love with her husband, W. Reed Turnbull. They were married August 3, 1946, and settled on the Turnbull Farm, raising their 4 children. Jean was Branch Manager at Security Trust in Rushville, NY, and retired from Bank of America. The Turnbulls were members of the Hall Congregational Church.

Jean was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and loved spending time with her family, especially at the lake, and attending her grandchildren’s many activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Margaret “Peg” Wilmott (Al), from VT, Nancy Turnbull, from Washington, DC, and Susan Wolpert (Russ), from IN; Jean’s daughter-in-law, Christine Turnbull, from Hall, NY; and sister, Margaret Templeton (Bill), from OK. She also leaves grandchildren, Kevin Turnbull (Ally) from Hall, NY, Marissa Turnbull from CT, Russ Wolpert (Erin), from IN, Christopher Wolpert (Dana), from OK, Whitney Bartlett (Jeremy), from IN, Christine Veliko (Chris) from VT, and Jim Wilmott from VT; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Welcoming Jean in heaven on Mother’s Day are her beloved parents; husband, Reed; son, Wilson “Bill” Turnbull; granddaughter, Krista; brother Bill Williams; and many fun-loving friends, including the “Bridgies.”

The family would especially like to thank Mary Townley, family friend and caregiver, for her compassionate and professional support.
