Obituary

Bainbridge/Rushville, NY- Janet A. Clark Berry, transitioned peacefully at home to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Calling hours will be from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday (June 9th) at the Rushville Congregational Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Nettle Valley Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450; or the Nettle Valley Cemetery, c/o Wayne Smith, Chosen Spot Apt. #22, 125 North Bloomfield Rd., Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Janet was born Nov. 5, 1946 in Canandaigua, NY, to the late Ashley and Marjorie Smith Clark. She graduated from Middlesex Valley High School in 1965, and Culver Beauty Academy in Rochester, NY in 1966. She had several jobs in her lifetime. She was known as “The Voice” of Rochester Button Co., as she was a switchboard operator and receptionist for 15 years. After moving to Bainbridge, NY she worked for Dr. A.M. Steinbeck as a Medical Secretary and Receptionist; and for Keith Clark in Sidney, NY as a Receptionist.

Janet was a member of the Ga Ha Da Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists, Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the American Revolution in Bainbridge, NY. She was D.A.R. Regent in 1998 and 1999.

Janet was active in her community. She was a member of the Bainbridge Women’s Club, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs Birthright, Right to Life, the Church Women’s Group, and the Bainbridge Moose Club.

Janet is survived by her husband, Ronald Berry of Bainbridge, NY; 2 brothers, Donald Clark of Rushville, NY and Ronald Clark of Naples, NY; 3 sisters, Esther Barkley of Morrisville, NC, Linda (Roger) Pimm of Avon, NY and Patricia (Lee) Roof of Silver Creek, NY; sister-in-law, Patricia (David) Sherman of Waltham, Mass; and brother-in-law, David Thayer of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.

Janet also had many beloved nephews and nieces: Keith (Jo-Ann) Clark, Connie (Carl) Barnhardt, Marsha (Michael) Lazarus, Dale Clark, Lisa (Shawn) Thompson, Heather Bassett, Cory (Heather Kay) Clark, Erin (James) Santonastaso, Nancy (Scott) Miller, Sharyn (Tim) Deal, Elaine (Terry) Johnson, Jody (Robert) Holland, Todd Clark, LaDonna (Joseph) Goodwin, Jamie (Susan) Barkley, Jon (Barbara) Barkley, Wendy (Michael) Wierzbicki, Bryan (Paula) Pimm, Brenda (Michael) Sidare, Lyle (Wendy) Roof, Michael (Lori) Roof, LeAnne (Doug) Sobilo; and many great-nephews and great-nieces.  She had many furry ‘Dog Children”.

Janet was  predeceased by her parents;  brothers, Richard Clark of Rushville, NY and Gordon Clark of Middlesex, NY; sister, Betty Thayer of Mt. Juliet, Tenn; niece, Jill Zarnoski; mother-in-law, Jennie Corbett; brother-in-law, Wilson Berry; sisters-in-law, Josephine Clark, Betty Clark and Donna Clark; and brother-in-law, Henry Barkley.
