Obituary

Stanley – Janell Dancause, 83, was called home to the Lord on Wednesday July 4, 2018 surrounded by her family.

There will no calling hours, however, the family invites everyone to a Funeral Mass to be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Stanley on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 10:00 AM.

Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stanley-Hall-Gorham Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 57, Hall, NY 14463; or St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, c/o Our Lady of the Lakes, 210 Keuka St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.

Janell was born in the Town of Macomb, New York, in 1934, daughter of Walter and Olga Breckenridge. She served as the secretary of Robert Dancause and Sons, Inc. She was a long-time member of the Gorham Ladies Auxiliary and served as a volunteer inspector during elections in the town of Gorham. Janell attended and volunteered at the Gorham Pageant of Bands and supported music education for children. Over the years, Janell was a volunteer with Ontario Yates Hospice and transported cancer patients to receive medical care. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her eight children, Cecile (Bob) Cody, Lou Ann Wyer, Elaine Hilton, Steve (Gloria) Dancause, Michele Fogarty, Gary (Sue) Dancause, Denise Canfield, and Tess Dancause; 14 grandchildren, Chad (Penny) Curtis, Brett Curtis, Joel Wyer, Jessica (Rustico) Udan, Aaron (Lisa) Hilton, Aimee Brown, Adam Hilton, David Dancause, Kristin Fogarty, Katie Fogarty, Shelbe (Isaac) Kamholtz, Tyler Dancause, Nathan Canfield, Jennifer Hamilton; 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years (Robert) and one brother (Loring Breckenridge).
