Obituary

Penn Yan – Howard P. Frum, 99, passed away on May 10, 2018.

He was born in October 1918 in Jeannette, PA to Lucy and Esker Frum. From an early age he was an avid outdoorsman and keen observer of nature, sharing numerous hunting and fishing adventures with his wife and children.
Howard began his career at the Elliott Company in Jeannette, PA as an Engineer. He transitioned to the Army for the course of World War II, where he served as a Chief Warrant Officer in Europe, finishing his service at Fort Eustis, VA.

Following the service, Howard was employed by Haloid (Rochester NY) and the Ward Company (Ohio). He and his family subsequently moved to Penn Yan, where he was employed by Sylvania (Seneca Falls) and was president of the Angler Boat Company (Penn Yan). He purchased the Keuka Lumber Company prior to moving to Florida, where he had a construction and development company.

Howard was a council leader for the Boy Scouts of America and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He was also a past president of the Kiwanis Club. While living in Florida, Howard was well known in his community for his talent for woodworking. Many people and organizations, including local schools, were the beneficiaries of his talents.

is survived by his wife of 74 years, Evelyn; three children, Janice (Butch) Comstock, Keith (Eileen) Frum and Betsy (Bruce) Warfield; daughter-in-law, Penelope Frum; two grandsons, Ben Comstock and Wes Comstock; and sister-in-law, Patricia Skeins.

Howard was predeceased by his parents; his son, Howard “Buzz” Frum; and his brother, Glenn Frum.
