Obituary

Stanley- Herbert “Herby” G. McFetridge passed on June 30, 2022 at the age of 89.

          There will be no calling hours or services. Herby simply wanted everyone to have a drink and a party thinking of him.

          Any donations may be made to the Gorham Fire Company, 4676 Kearney Rd., Gorham, NY 14461; or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

          Herby was born March 31, 1933 to William John and Helen A. (Long) McFetridge. He worked on his dad’s farm until graduating from Geneva High School, where he had won the National FFA essay contest.

          Herby drove truck for Penn Yan Express and other companies until he went to work for GLF, delivering fuel oil. He moved on to servicing heating and cooling and subsequently made his career in designing and sales for many HAC companies, ending his working life with Dancause & Sons.

          Herby’s hobby was HO gauge model railroads, specifically Pennsylvania Railroad. In his retirement he enjoyed watching polka and tractor auctions on RFD TV; and animal and nature shows on Animal Planet and National Geographic channel, and Fox News. His dog, Lola, was his best friend.

          Herby is predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Leslie “Lee” Howes McFetridge; his two brothers, Sandy and Bill McFetridge, and his sister, Mary Olsen.

          He is survived by his children, Nancy (Pete) Swindler of Dacula, GA, Cyndi (Lester) Burgess of Stanton, KY, and Sean McFetridge of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

          The family wishes to extend many thanks to friends and extended family who have helped and supported him the last few years, and especially during his last days. Special thanks to Anne Chase, Lorie Adam and Scott Lambert.
