Obituary
Gorham- H. Claire Gladwell peacefully left us and went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, (July 28th) at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 149 Genesee St., Geneva, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Claire to the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester, 1048 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607; St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 147, Geneva, NY 14456; or to the Christ Church, 141 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14604.
Claire was born on January 12, 1933 in Middleton, Nova Scotia to Freeman and Helena Brown (Downey). She was the youngest sibling to Haddon Brown, Joyce Cavey (Brown) and George Brown.
She is warmly remembered for her beautiful ability to listen to and understand everyone she engaged in conversation, whether a friend, her family, or during her many years as a psychiatric nurse for the U of R at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Widow of the late Richard Gladwell, she is now survived by her partner, John Frank, and also leaves behind her loving children, Jane (Brian) Ames, Carol (Doug) Cleveland, Mark (Dayle) Lewis and Hilary (Bob) Stanton; and John’s children, Scott (Rachel Bernstein) Frank and Barb Frank; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Darren) Young, Jolene (Matt) Smeltzer, Matt (Charlotte Pownall) Stanton, Kate Stanton, Breann (Bob) Krause, Tom (Bianca) Bleier, Noah and Carly Frank, and Tyler and Ellie Schwarz. Claire will also be missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and great-grandchildren.
