Obituary
Canandaigua- Geraldine L. Frere, age 72, passed away on April 26, 2023 at Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester, NY.
Friends may call Saturday (May 6th) from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will follow at Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 68, c/o Jayne Wheeler, 3986 Middle Road, Canandaigua, NY 14424.
Geraldine was born in Canandaigua, NY, the daughter of the late Gerald Barnhardt and Evelyn Schultz Barnhardt. She was a graduate ofCanandaigua Academy. She married James M. Frere on December 18, 1970. Geraldine was retired from the FLCC Bursar’s Office.
Geraldine was a member of the Boy Scout Committee. She loved camping, dirt racing, hummingbirds and Baltimore orioles; and was an avid deer hunter. Above all, Geraldine loved spending time with her grandchildren and brothers and sisters.
Geraldine is survived by her two children, Janine (Jeffrey) Vaughan and Jamie Frere; four grandchildren, Casey (Joel) Dam, Trevor (Natasha Bessemer) Vaughan, Dakota (Lily DeBrock) Frere and Chase Frere.
She is also survived by 8 siblings, Sandra (“Butch”) Helstrom, Dorene (Charles) Frost ; Veralyn Noble, Elaine Johnson, Roger Barnhardt, Robert (Sandra Hill) Barnhardt, Katrina (Michael) Calkins and Lisa (Scott) Smith; brothers-in-law, Richard (Jackie) Frere and Larry Frere; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Geraldine was predeceased by her husband, Jim, in 2015.

Dear Frere Family,
I am so sorry to hear about Gerry, we graduated from school together and always had many laughs and good times! She always stopped in to the Town Hall in Hopewell to chat while doing her Town Clerk business. She was a special lady and all those precious memories will help all of you in the future.
