Obituary
Penn Yan- Gerald E Smith, age 72, died on Thursday August 17, 2017 at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Potter Fire Company, 1255 Phelps Road, Middlesex, NY 14507.
Friends and family may call Wednesday August 23 from 12 to1 P.M. Funeral services will follow at 1 P.M. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan. Rev. Thomas Castle will officiate.
Gerry retired from the New York State Experiment Station in 1986. He was a former member of the Dresden Fire Company and was a current member of the Potter Fire Company where he was the financial secretary. He was instrumental in forming the Yates County Fire Police. He enjoyed Kayaking.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Helen Metcalf Smith, two sons, Timothy (Marcy) Smith and Kenneth A Smith, three Grandchildren, Nycholas Davis, Tyler Davis, and Autumn Smith, one great-grandchild Kyla Mae Davis, three Brothers, Donald (Nancy) Smith, Edward (Renee) Smith, and Richard (Joyce) Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews.
