Obituary
Penn Yan- Gerald C. Strong, age 79, died Friday (Dec. 21, 2018) at his home.
Friends may call Sunday (Dec. 23rd) from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seneca Waterway Council, (Scouts of America) 2320 Brighton-Henrietta Townline Rd., Rochester, NY 14623; or to the Benton Fire Dept., 932 Rte. 14A., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Jerry was a member of the Benton Fire Company, and a former member of the Penn Yan Area Ambulance Corps and the Rushville Masonic Lodge #377. He was a N.R.A. Certified Rifle Instructor. Jerry was also a member of the NYS Retired Teachers’ Association.
Jerry was active with the Boy Scouts. He had been a Scout Leader, and served on the Council. He had received the Silver Beaver Award, an adult award for service rendered.
Jerry is survived by one daughter, Sueann Strong; one son, Roger (Suzanne) Strong; three grandchildren, Gavin, Nolan and Jaden Strong; one sister, Gail Waydelis; one brother, David (Joanne) Burley; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Linda Turner.
Jerry was predeceased by his wife, Marion, in 2009.
