Obituary

Frank Hayes Casper, 48, passed away on May 27, 2023, in Manchester, New York.

Frank was born in Norfolk, Va., to his loving parents, Bob and Helen Casper. He grew up in the Larchmont area of the city and graduated from Maury High School. He obtained his degree in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.

Frank was an accomplished Executive Chef in restaurants along the East Coast: The Austin Creek Grill, Hatteras, NC; Nordstrom Café, Norfolk, VA; J. Gilbert’s, Tysons Corner, NOVA; Woodcliff Hotel & Spa, Fairport, NY; The Phelps Hotel, Phelps, NY;  Morton’s, Rochester, NY; and Cloverwood, Pittsfield, NY.

Frank’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children. Whether watching and supporting them play sports, enjoying music or creating art together, hiking trails, or spending time around the lakes near his home, they just loved being together. His passion for preparing delicious food for everyone, especially his family, was a joy to watch. He was a gregarious person with a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a huge heart, and he gave the best bear hugs.

Along with his parents, Frank is survived by his children: Hunter Delos, Carter William, and Riley Anne Casper; their mother, the love of his life, Lisa Dann Casper. He is also survived by his sisters and brother and their families: Rad and Gina Williamson (Tyler); Mike and Jackie Savarese (Andrew, Spencer, Shelen, Micah, and Casper); John and Lauren Casper (Mareto & Arsema). Members of his wonderful Dann family also survive him, in-laws Doug & Hilke, their daughters and their families: Jeff and Laurie (Madison, Carson, and Tyler); Brad and Lindsey (Meghan and Sophia); Stacy and Jeremy (Jackson and Callie); Uncle Mike and Aunt Marilyn Dann; and lifelong friend, Erin Williamson. He was predeceased by his nephew, Jake Williamson.

He left us too soon, unexpectedly, and we are heartbroken at the loss of our kindhearted soul.

A celebration of Frank’s life is planned in Phelps, NY, and a graveside service is planned at Forest Lawn inNorfolk, Va., at later dates.

Ashley Finlen Copeland from Stowe, VT on Jun. 23, 2023

Dear Casper and Dann families, I’m so very sorry for the unexpected loss of Frank. I knew Frank from Norfolk Christian. He was then, and it sounds like he remained, a gregarious, gentle, easily liked guy. I can still picture his big smile. I am praying that God would hold you close and provide comfort and peace during this sorrow filled time.
