Obituary
Canandaigua – Floyd Higley Gage, age 94, passed away on July 6th, 2021.
Services will be private, and Mr. Gage will be interred at Rushville Cemetery, Rushville, New York, at a future date.
Floyd was born in Canandaigua, New York on July 26, 1926. He graduated in the top of his class from Gorham High School, Gorham, New York. Floyd was married to Gladys Mallaber Gage on August 20, 1949. They met at a dance in 1948, were lifelong dancers, and were married 71 years.
Floyd worked as a farmer, and in radio repair. Subsequently, he was employed as an electrician in the Gorham, New York vicinity and later in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, until his retirement.
As a young man, Floyd shot competitively in pistol and sporter rifle competitions. He competed many times over the years and won many tournaments and trophies. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, gardening, carving, and researching Genealogy. He was actively involved in the Gorham, Ontario County, and Rushville Historical Societies.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Gladys Mallaber Gage; son, Alan Floyd Gage (Sandra Seely Gage); daughters, Joan Ellen Gage and Karen Gage Arango (Oscar Arango); grandchildren, Justin Alan Gage (Alana Valseca Gage), Thomas Seely Gage (Christy Guthrie Gage),Elyssa Joy Gage (Brian Jeffrey Hamm), and Leah Bethany Gage; great-grandchildren, Gianni Justin Gage, Mila Louise Gage, Remy Theodore Gage, Martin Nicolas Hamm, Damien Michael Hamm and Cecilia Marie Hamm; sister, Dorothy Gage Favitta; and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen Anne Gage; parents, Floyd Byron Gage and Laura Higley Gage; and brothers, Robert Arden Gage and Eugene Frederick Gage.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Ontario County, New York.
