Obituary
Churchville– Evangeline B. Hill, “Giggy”, age 89, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Unity Hospital from Covid complications.
During this difficult time, Evangeline was allowed to have her daughter, Karen, by her side and the love of her family.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Nettle Valley Cemetery in Potter NY.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Evangeline was born at home on November 3, 1932 in Potter, NY to the late McKinley and Blanche (Phelps) Baker. Evangeline enjoyed the simplicity of country life. Her voice sparkled when she spoke of special moments with her grandparents and her dedication to her church. In later years, she enjoyed helping take care of her great-grandchildren. She treasured the moments she was able to spend with them, doing puzzles, gardening, or watching a movie.
She is survived by her daughters; Karen (Bob) DeClerck of Churchville, NY, and Faye (Donnie) Valder of Penn Yan, NY.;and her brother; Harry Baker, of Penn Yan, NY.
“Giggy” was blessed with 4 grandchildren, along with their adoring spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Evangeline was predeceased by her husband, Charles John Hill, on December 1, 1991; and by her son, Clarence “Cecil” Hill, on December 22, 2008.
