Obituary
Penn Yan- Eloise Shaner, 91, died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at her home.
Friends may call Friday (Sept. 22nd) from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in City Hill Cemetery.

Eloise was the daughter of the late George and Esther Cole Jayne. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1943; and from Rochester Business Institute. Eloise married Kenneth R. Shaner on January 14, 1947 at the Penn Yan United Methodist Church. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last January.
Eloise was a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club, and a former member of the Dresden Fireman’s Auxiliary and the North Central Fireman’s Association Auxiliary. She had been an active volunteer at the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club. Eloise enjoyed reading and gardening.
Eloise is survived by her husband, Kenneth R. Shaner; three daughters, Diana Knapp, Kathryn (Gene) Reed and Karen (Larry) Towner; two sons, John (Joyce) Shaner and Steven (Michele) Shaner; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Jayne and David (Celia) Jayne; two sisters, Carolyn (Stewart) Merritt and Velma (Monte) Silliman; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Betty Shaner and Janet Shaner; and brother-in-law, Donald Shaner.
Eloise was predeceased by one granddaughter, Michelle Reed; son-in-law, Paul T. Knapp; three sisters and two brothers.
