Betty was born July 14, 1939 in New Berlin, New York. She married Marvin Slentz in 1959 and they were married until his death in 2000. Her most precious accomplishment was raising seven children and becoming grandmother to several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. This was obvious in her unconditional and constant love.
Betty worked at Hobart and William Smith Colleges for several years in the Café, where she met many people and found close friendships. After her retirement, she was able to travel to many places she had always wanted to visit such as Alaska, Texas, California, the Outer Banks, and Nashville to name a few. Her most recent travel experience was to Gunnison, Colorado for her granddaughter’s wedding in 2019. Betty also loved going to lunch at the Wagner restaurant in Penn Yan with her close friend, Peggy Rea.
Betty will always be remembered as a kind hearted and generous person who was the backbone of her family. Betty is survived by her children, Dave (Deb) Slentz of New Berlin, NY; Diane (Jim) McDaniel of Sherburne, NY; Don Slentz of Titonka, IA; Mike (Pam) Slentz of Himrod, NY; Dusty (Kathy) Slentz of Geneva, NY; Heather (Jack) Santee of Stanley, NY and Jill Slentz of Penn Yan, NY; her grandchildren, Jesse, Sean and Nick McDaniel; Kaley and Cody Slentz; Jeremy (Danielle) Slentz, Cassie (Ryan) Gates and Justin (Katie) Slentz; Joe (Sue) Reed, Matt (Kendra) Reed and Amy Slentz; Kate Sokolowski (Zack Keefer) and Lindsay (David) Montgomery and Liam Doan; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Gabe and Evey Slentz; Leah and Jack Slentz, Eddie and Andy Reed; Carter and Garrett Reed; and Maggie Montgomery; her brothers, George (Phyllis) Guller of Orange, TX and Pat (Nancy) Guller of South New Berlin, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Slentz; her parents, Alfred and Margaret Guller; and her beloved and faithful K-9 companion, Bear, who was her guardian until the end.
