Obituary

Potter/Middlesex- Dorothy “Dot” Elaine Blood, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Friends may call Friday (Sept. 30th) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will be held  Saturday (Oct. 1st) at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial  contributions may be made to the Ontario County Fair Draft Horse Barn/Program, PO Box 324, Canandaigua, NY 14424.

Dot was born Oct. 23, 1944 in Canandaigua, NY. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Marjorie Yerkes. She graduated from Canandaigua Academy, and attended Geneseo State College. Dot worked at Kelloggs PanTree Inn in Canandaigua for 42 years. She worked at Henderson’s Drug Store in Penn Yan for 8 years. Dot enjoyed transporting her Mennonite neighbors for many years.

Dot and her husband, Carl, were lifelong horsemen. She was a 4-H Horse Club leader for many years (Ontario County Wranglers). Dot was the Secretary for the Ontario County Horse Leaders and for the Tri-County Draft Horse Club, for many years.

Dot is survived by her husband of 58 years, Carl D. Blood; four children, Peggy Olig, Lisa Henderson, Connie Blood and Corey Blood; 11 grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Rasmussen, Peter (Chelsea) Olig, Christopher (Amanda) Blood, Tyler (Melissa) Henderson, Cierra (Donnie) Wagner, Lexie (Randy) Sinack, Braeden Perot , Shael (Mary) Blood, Kiya (Dylan Hastings) Blood, Shonikka Blood and Shaman Blood; and 14 great-grandchildren. Dot is also survived by five sisters, Beverly (LaVerne) Washburn, Sandra (Everett) Simonds, Linda Sheets, Joan Servidone and Judy (Norm Koek) Jones; one brother, Ron Yerkes; and many nieces and nephews.
