Donna Marie Emerson Marcus

Donna Marie Emerson Marcus, a longtime resident of Royal Oak, passed away on March 25, 2024 at the age of 85. A daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Emerson, she was born on December 2, 1938 in Middlesex, New York.

Friends may call on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will be held following calling hours at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Penn Yan.

Donna came to Michigan to attend Hillsdale College, graduating in 1960. She then made her career as a first and second grade teacher at Whittier Elementary, nurturing young minds for 13 years. Her retirement came with the birth of her daughter, Kelli, but Donna maintained very active involvement in the Girl Scouts and a variety of other organizations that she volunteered with. Donna also had a passion for travel and seeing different parts of the world, particularly enjoying trips to the Middle East and Europe. She will be missed dearly by her friends and family.

Donna is survived by her loving daughter, Kelli; her grandchild, Rowan; her siblings: Anne Allen, Art (the late Janet) Emerson, Roger (Carol) Emerson, and Paul (Anne) Emerson; and her step-children: Erin Marcus and Karen Marcus. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. Donna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charlie Marcus; and her step-sons: Eric Marcus and Craig Marcus.
