Obituary

Middlesex – Donald Roy McAnn, age 74, passed away on April 18, 2024.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 22nd at 1 p.m. at the Middlesex Airport.

Memorial Contributions may be made to LeTourneau Christian Center, 4950 County Rd. #11, Rushville, NY 14544.

Don was the son of the late Wallace and Betty McAnn.

He was an Inspection Authorization for the FAA. He also held a Private Pilot’s license and was a member of the Middlesex Chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association. Don loved airplanes, and also loved tinkering with motorcycles and cars. He loved anything that could go fast.

Don also loved kids and loved working with them. He had been a youth soccer coach for 10 years in Oklahoma. Don and his business partner  in Oklahoma started a “Bus Ministry”, making sure young people could get to church. He was also very involved with Awana. Don was always smiling.

Don adored his grandchildren and prayed for them daily. He was proud of their athletic and scholastic successes. They will miss him giving them motorcycle rides; and him going on roller coasters with them.

Don attended Seneca Community Church in Romulus, NY. He was a good Christian man with a big heart. Don was only a phone call away when anyone needed anything. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Don is survived by his wife of  35 years, Lisa McAnn; son, Joshua (Amberly) Teel; two daughters, Alicia (Ryan) McBride and Mei (Sen) Chen; 8 grandchildren, Easton, Jet, Maverick and Taylynn Teel, Aubrey Teel, and Nicholas, Nicole and Natalie Zhen.

Don is also survived by his sister, Sherry McAnn; nephew, Justin McAnn; and fur babies, Lucky and Tucker.

Dear Lisa and family, Our hearts ache for all of you. We always knew that we could count on Don for anything at any time. All we had to do was ask. He had a unique sense of humor and was always smiling. He loved God and his family with his whole heart. We pray that God will comfort you.

I am shocked to hear of Donnie's passing. I had planned to look Donnie up this summer on my visit to NY. Donnie and I were raised on Brickyard Rd. and shared many good memories. After high school, we went in different directions and the years passed by. My sincerest condolences to his wife and family. I pray the memories will provide comfort during these difficult days ahead.

Lisa, Alicia and Josh… I am so sorry for this whole situation and for your loss. Every day I prayed for even the slightest miracle, but anyone who knew Don knows without a shadow of a doubt that he is sitting beside his Savior! Wish I could hug you in person ❤️

Andy and Barb Trautman from Pataskala, Ohio on Apr. 23, 2024

Lisa, I can’t imagine what this journey has been for you, but know that you have friends that love you and are praying for you. Don was amazing. Always smiling and such a love for God and life. I picture him in heaven trying to explain what an airplane is or a motorcycle, to kids that have never seen either. He’s running and able to breathe freely. Thank you Lord for Don and many good memories and thank you for Lisa and her friendship and smiles.

Don was truly one of a kind. While i only knew him for a few years, he made me feel like a long time friend. He will be deeply missed by us at Skaneateles Aerodrome, and if there is anything we can do to help please don't hesitate to ask. He did so much for everyone else in his lifetime, it's the least we can do.

Michael Coppola from Auburn, NY on Apr. 23, 2024

So sorry for your loss and a shock. He was really a great guy and always willing to help out. For the short time we had his services available to us at the Skaneateles airport, he seemed like he should always have been there. Always available to give advice, would jump right in with an issue, and always had treats available for the dog! We really missed him when he decided to move back to his home base.
