Obituary

Rushville- Darrow G. Dunham, age 80, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Naples Hospeace House with his family at his side.

Friends and Family are invited to call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday (May 6th) at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday (May 7th) at the Rushville Methodist Church. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospeace House, P.O. Box 343, Naples, NY 14512.
Darrow, or Ike as he was known to most people, was born on March 11, 1936 in Border City, New York. Along with his identical twin brother, Darwin, Mike, they were born to the late Howard and Evelyn Dunham of Geneva. After graduating from Geneva High School in 1953 he received a Junior Accounting Degree from Freeman Business School. He was drafted by the Army in 1954 and served a 3 year term.

When finished with his service he went on to earn a Master of Science Degree in Education from the State University of New York at Brockport. Later he would earn a Master of Science in Mathematics from Syracuse University. From there he launched his career in Education. His first job was at Middlesex Valley from 1963 to 1967.

Ike was then hired as one of the first Mathematics Professor’s at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua. He would remain there for the next 31 years until he retired in 1999. He had the unique ability to teach calculus and statistics and make the class fun and interesting for all the students that took the class. He had a true passion for teaching. Along with teaching he was an avid sports fan, toy train collector and ran the clock for all basketball games at FLCC for over 20 years. He also served on the Marcus Whitman School board from 1975-1986.

Ike will be missed by his wife of 49 years, Barbara Dunham; children, Matthew (Michelle) Dunham, Christopher (Tara) Dunham, Laura (Stephen) Finnan and his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Dunham, Colin Dunham, David Dunham, James Dunham, Fisher Finnan and Luke Finnan. He will also be sorely missed by his twin brother and best friend, Mike (Anne) Dunham; nephew, Mark Dunham; sister-in-law, Marcia (Ken) Dailey; brother-in-law, Larry Clark; Ike is survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leigh and Ruth Clark; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Evelyn Dunham and niece, Amy Dunham.
