Obituary
Gorham- Daniel Harry Hershey, age 82, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2023.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 12 p.m. at the Gorham Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1 p.m. at the Gorham Fire Hall.
Memorial contributions in Dan’s name can be made to the Gorham Fire Company, 4676 Kearney Rd., Stanley, NY 14561.
Dan was born on December 15, 1940, the son of the late Harry Daniel “Jake” Hershey and Adelaide Margaret Hall Hershey. He was a graduate of Gorham Central School, Class of 1960. After high school he took over the family business, Gorham Oil. He had 3 sons he was very proud of, Stephen, David and Chris. He married Barbara Hershey in 1983 and they enjoyed many years of traveling to car shows and driving his 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air 2 door hardtop. Dan and his son Chris took many trips together to Carlisle, PA to get parts for the Bel Air.
Dan enjoyed watching the N.Y. Yankees, drag racing with the local Gorham Boys and family trips to the Adirondacks to go snowmobiling. He loved riding around looking for deer and getting ice cream at Mac’s.
Dan is survived by his sons, David (Amanda) Hershey and Chris (Stephanie) Hershey; daughter-in-law, Sandy Hershey; and his grandchildren, Jake (Shayna DuVal) Hershey, Madison (Trevor) Black, Anna Hershey, Briana Hershey and Carter Coston; as well as cousins.
Dan was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Barbara; his son, Stephen Daniel Hershey and a grandson, Ethan Hershey.
