Obituary

Rushville- Charles H. “Chip” Green, age 88, died Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home in Penn Yan.

Friends may call Friday (May 17th) from 5-8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham, NY. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday (May 18th) at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Gorham Fire Hall following the burial.

Memorial contributions may be made to Middlesex Valley Ambulance, 817 Route 245, Middlesex, NY 14507.

Chip was born on January 23, 1931 in the Town of Gorham. He was the son of the late Dana C. Green and Celia Boies Green. Chip graduated from Middlesex Valley Central School in 1949, as Valedictorian. He attended Boys State.

Chip was a life-long farmer. He was a great lover of all music and a talented singer for his high school and for a barbershop quartet. His barbershop quartet came in second at the Saratoga Barbershop Quartet Competition. He was active in the Lyons Club variety shows. Chip was a starting five for Middlesex Valley High School basketball team. He played basketball into his thirty’s. Chip enjoyed playing golf, horseshoes, and cards and loved coffee hour with the “Rushco Gang.”

Chip is survived by his children, Norman Green and former wife, Judy Green, Annette Hoban, Ellen VanKeuren, Allan (Linda) Green and Dennis (Linda) Green; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Georgia (Jim) Powell; brother, Robert (Elaine) Green; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Barnes and Dorothy Smith and several nieces and nephews.

Chip was predeceased by wife, Teresa Smith Green; brothers-in-law, William Smith and Donald Barnes; and 2 sons-in-law, Patrick Hoban and Rich VanKeuren.

The Green family would like to make a very special thank you to Dr. Schue and the Valley View Family Practice, M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center and the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home for their loving and compassionate care.
