Obituary

Rushville – Charles E. Lazarus, age 82, died Tuesday, February 5, 2019, in Clifton Springs Hospital.

Friends may call Friday (Feb.15th) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham; and again on Saturday (Feb. 16th) from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. A Funeral Service will follow at 1 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 16th) at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rushville Hose Company, P.O. Box 51, Rushville, NY 14544; or to the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance, 817 Rte. 245, Middlesex, NY 14507.

Charles was born January 3, 1937 in Canandaigua, NY, the son of the late Ernest and Alice Whitman Lazarus. He graduated from Middlesex Valley High School in 1956. Charles married Janet Owen on Feb. 25, 1957.

Charles farmed for Ed Pease for several years. He retired from the Middlesex Town Highway Department after more than 30 years of service.

Charles was a member of the Rushville Hose Company for 62 years.

He enjoyed feeding and watching birds and was also a hunter.

Charles is survived by his wife, Janet; three sons, Charles A. Lazarus, Michael (Marsha) Lazarus and Randy Lazarus; three daughters, Karen Pulver, Dianne Lazarus and Kathy (Bob) Gernaat; 14 grandchildren, Sarah Lazarus, Gwen (Darrell) Winkler, Justin (Chand) Kataria, Laura Lazarus, Lydia (Gene) Melendez, Jessica Pulver, Hannah Coat, Jewel Pulver, Diamond Pulver, Chad (Robin) Lazarus, Cody Lazarus, Rhiannon (Darren) Sage, Matthew (Meg) Gernaat and Kendra (Mitchell) Patterson; 20 great-grandchildren, Camden and Cullen, Carter and Anna,

Emily, Riley and Molly, Ariana and Allie, Zoey, Zachary, Zane, and Zander, Shelby and Shane, Gavin, Gabbie and Natalie and Gianna and Doutzen; 1 brother, Gerald (Mary) Lazarus; 1 sister-in-law, Martha Owen; 3 brothers-in-law, Fred Estey, Allen Owen and Elwood (Pat) Owen; several nieces and nephews; and his grand-dog, Cocoa.

Charles was predeceased by his sister, Helen Estey, his brother-in-law, Morris Owen and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Owen.
