Obituary

Geneva- Charles E. “Chuck” Butler, age 83, passed away on May 4, 2023.

          A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13th, at the Reed Corners Federated Church. Burial will be in the Reed’s Corners Burying Ground.

          Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Yates County, PO Box 12, Penn Yan, NY 14527; or to Reed Corners Federated Church, 4030 Rte. 247, Canandaigua, NY 14424.

          Chuck was born in Oneonta, NY, son of the late Edwin L. and Bertha Castle Butler. His fondest childhood memories were of growing up in the post-war years in Unadilla, NY. As a teenager in Geneva, he enjoyed going to the Arcade and playing pool. He was a 1957 graduate of Geneva High School. Chuck married Roberta Dorothy Wood on Sept. 17, 1967 at the Reed Corners Federated Church.

          Chuck was a tool and die maker for 38 years at Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls, retiring in 2001. Co-workers will remember the lunch break card games with Chuck.

          Chuck was a member of the Reed Corners Federated Church. He was an active volunteer at the Humane Society of Yates County, mowing lawns and transporting animals.

          Chuck was an avid gardener. He enjoyed spending time outside fishing, deer hunting and attending the Watkins Glen NASCAR  races. He loved going to his family camp in Old Forge.

          Chuck is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roberta “Bobbie” Butler; three children, Charles A. Butler, Matthew (Amy) Butler and Karen Rayburn; two grandchildren, Claire and Jenna Butler; brother, Daniel (Charlotta) Butler; sister-in-law, Eva Elizabeth Wood; brother-in-law, Raymond (Patricia) Wood; two nephews, Christopher (Deanna) Butler and Timothy Butler; and two nieces, Jennifer (Michael)  Spadine and Deborah (Matthew) Laroche.
