Caryl was born November 7, 1935, and was the daughter of Jay and Firna (Shepard) Clark. She was a graduate of Middlesex Valley Central School. After graduation, Caryl worked as an Office Clerk for JC Penneys in Canandaigua, and later for Lown’s in Penn Yan.

Following her marriage to Paul Santee in 1955 and raising their family, Caryl drove school bus for Marcus Whitman Central School until her retirement. She loved her “bus kids” and always commented how well-behaved they were. Caryl enjoyed telling how she once spotted a bag of money on one of her daily runs, and how it was obtained and turned in.

Caryl loved to care for her family, the elderly and others in need. She also liked to attend yard sales. Caryl volunteered in her community, including helping with the Middlesex Conservation Club’s breakfasts. For many years, Caryl wrote a community news column for the Penn Yan Chronicle Express. She enjoyed spending time on her family’s land on Mertz Rd.

Her joy was the love of music and playing a piano and her home organ. She sang in her church choir, plus played the organ for weddings, funerals and Sunday services at many area churches. Most recently she had played at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hall, NY.

Caryl was a lifetime member of the Rushville Methodist Church; a 50 year member of the Rushville Fenogowone Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Middlesex Conservation Club.

Caryl is survived by her three sons, Michael, Dean and Derek Santee; three grandsons, Michael, Jr., Matthew and Logan Santee; brother, Rodney (Sherry) Clark; sister, Janice Moore; sister-in-law, Hilda Santee; brothers-in-law, Fred (Betty) Santee and Donald Santee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
