Obituary
Gorham- Carl R. McCaig, age 96, died on December 17, 2016.
A Memorial Service will be announced at the convenience of the family.

Carl was a devoted husband and father, known to all as a kind spoken gentleman. He was a carpenter, a builder and remodeler of homes. Carl worked for L.A. Johnson Co. for 27 years, retiring at age 70.
Carl served in the U.S. Navy, WWII, seeing action in the North Atlantic and South Pacific. He served as an engine room stationary engineer (fireman) and was watch supervisor. His ship was part of the Fast Carrier Group and carried out dedicated night-time operations, using the emerging technology of radar.
In Carl’s middle years he was an avid sportsman, hunting, fishing and marksmanship competician. He enjoyed long walks in nature and riding his bicycle, remaining vital into his 90’s. Carl was an avid gardener, man of the soil. After retirement he greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, taking them to the beach, festivals and other activities.
Carl is survived by his two sons, James (Kathy) McCaig and Roy McCaig; two grandchildren, Erin Bryant and Adam McCaig; four great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Brush) McCaig.
