Brady L. Rouse, Jr. 1943 – 2015

Rushville- Brady Rouse, age 72, died Oct. 21, 2015.

Friends may call Friday (Oct. 30th) from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday (Oct. 31st) at 11 a.m. at the Rushville Congregational Church.
Burial, with Navy Military Honors, will be held at Rushville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Marcus Whitman Color Guard Alumni, c/o Barb Dunham, P.O. Box 143, Rushville, NY 14454.

Brady served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1968. He credited the military for his teaching tech and demand for doing things right.

Brady is known for his lifelong work with area Winterguards, Drum Corps and Bands. He began in 1962 as a fill-in base drummer with the Shortsville Shamrocks, and then became a visual tech for the Shortsville Shamrocks and Dynamic Duo. Brady worked with the Syracuse Brigadiers, the Auburn Purple Lancers Drum Corps, the Nazareth Academy Cadet Guard, Greece Cadets before coming to Marcus Whitman. In 1977, he started the Marcus Whitman Winterguard and Band, and led them to the WGI Finals for 9 consecutive years. In 1982 the Marcus Whitman Winterguard won the WGI High School Championships. Brady led Guards to numerous Finals, Regionals and Championships. The list of schools he worked with, and the awards he helped them win, are too numerous to list. Brady also was a local and national Clinician and Adjudicator.

Brady is survived by his step-mother, Gerelda Rouse; brothers, Tracy (Janice) Rouse and Wayne (Judy) Rouse; sister, Linda (Terry) Kirby; several nieces and nephews; many, many friends, including special friend, Barbara Dunham; and the numerous “Brady Girls” he led and influenced over his career.

Brady was predeceased by his mother, Eleanor Boise; his father, Brady Rouse, Sr.; and his friend, Bruce McCready.
