Obituary

Geneva – Betty L. Davis, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. 

A Memorial Service will be held Friday (Sept. 23rd) at 3 p.m. at Crosswinds Wesleyan Church, 3360 Middle Cheshire Rd., Canandiagua.

Betty was the daughter of the late Cecil and Norma Barrett. She graduated from DeRuyter High School and from SUNY at Morrisville College in 1969. 

Betty was a wife and stay at home mother to four children. She also worked as a secretary and office administrator for a number of years. Besides her 10 grandchildren, her joy was her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved being outdoors, especially at the family cabin in the Adirondacks. Betty enjoyed singing at church and attending regular services. Over the years, she served as a VBS coordinator, adult Sunday school teacher, and more recently a greeter at the door. She and her husband led a small group in their home for a while.

Betty had a home business as a seamstress, doing alterations and repairs on clothing. She also sold her handiwork at local craft fairs. Betty enjoyed reading, cooking, baking, and canning. She made relishes, jams, pickles, salsa, and applesauce, which she shared with her friends and family. 

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, James T. Davis; children Scott (Kim), Christopher (Nina), Jeffrey (Bridget), and Heather (Benjamin) Oxenford; Also her grandchildren: Sydney, Cameron, Samuel, Joseph, Kendall, Aaron, Nathan, Eliana, Grace and Hannah. She is predeceased by granddaughter, Madison.

I am Carissa Drake Helsdon. I remember playing as a child with Betty's daughter, Heather Davis Oxenford. I also remember her brothers Scott and Jeff.
Heather was an amazing friend as she lived nearby the town of Gorham (where I used to live). I remember that Betty was an amazing mom to her kids. ❤️
