Obituary
Rushville- Arthur P. Knopf, age 83, died at his home on Saturday, May 9, 2020, after a short illness.
A private graveside service will be held at Gorham Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Art was born Dec. 25, 1936 to the late Elmer L. Knopf, Sr. and Dolores Guy Knopf. He was a 1955 graduate of Gorham High School. After 1 year of college, Art joined the U.S. Army. He served from 1960 to 1966. Art married Bonnie Gail Lee on July 18, 1964 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Stanley, NY.
Art was self-employed at Art Knopf Heating. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Canandaigua. He was always willing to help anyone. Art built his own house, and the houses of family and friends.
Art is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bonnie Knopf; four daughters, Kimberly (Robert) Chapin, Kara (Liz Wood) Knopf, Julie (Kirk Cranston) Knopf, and Joy (Constantine) Michaelides; 10 grandchildren, Kayley Chapin, Joshua Chapin, Jaimie Chapin, Rebecca Wood, Bryan Wood, Amy Wood, Fiona Michaelides, Sylvia Michaelides, Artemis Michaelides and Athena Michaelides; 4 great-grandchildren, Brendan Thompson, Ryley Keppen, Ryker Greene and Bayleigh Cotter; three sisters, Eleanor (James) Gould, Marion Cimino and Cassie Joyce; brother-in-law, Charles Plyter; sisters-in-law, Linda Hillman and Germaine Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
Art was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores Plyter and Elaine Knopf; and one brother, Elmer Knopf, Jr.
