Obituary

Rushville- Arline R. Knapp, age 90, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019.

Friends may call Thursday (Oct. 17th) from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex Valley Volunteer Ambulance, 817 Rte. 245, Middlesex, NY 14507; to the Middlesex Hose Co., PO Box 145, Middlesex, NY 14507; or to the Middlesex United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 116, Middlesex, NY 14507.

Arline was born Jan. 8, 1929 in Dundee, NY, the youngest of six children of John and Bertha Turner Roberts. She was a 1943 graduate of Dundee Central School.

Arline married her husband, Marshall, in 1949 in Reading, NY. They were married 45 years, until his death in 1994. They owned and operated a dairy farm until 1969. They then owned and operated Knapp’s Antiques from their home for the next 25 years. They made many lifelong friends through their antique business.

Arline enjoyed the friendship of Lyle Nudd for 11 years, until his death in 2016. Arline was a longtime member of the Middlesex United Methodist Church.

Arline is survived by two daughters, Marsha Mitchell of Canandaigua, NY and Carol (Joe) Jensen of Gorham, NY; four grandchildren, Elise (Don) Mitchell-Woodhams of Clifton Park, NY, Dr. Matthew (Jeanette Dayan) Mitchell of Monte Sereno, California, Cy (Megan Boss) Jensen of Rochester, NY and Luke Jensen of Canandaigua, NY; two great-grandchildren, Matthew Mitchell and Kayla Mitchell, and a third due in November.

She is also survived by special nieces, Joyce DeSarno of Watkins Glen, NY and Marge Schweitzer of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; special nephew, Wally Knapp of Houston, Texas; plus many, many more nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arline was predeceased by her husband, Marshall; grandson, Jess Jensen; four brothers, William, Carl, James and Jack; and sister, Mary.

Arline’s family would like to thank her aides, Cathy, Ana, Terry and Wendy for the loving, faithful care they provided, which allowed her to remain in her home, as she wished. Thank you also to Ontario-Yates Hospice for their important work during her final days.
