Obituary

Canandaigua- Lindsay Jo (Minns) Craft, age 41, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024 following a long battle with mental illness.

Friends may call on Friday, September 6 from 4 -7 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A funeral service will take place Saturday, September 7 at 11 am at the Seneca #9 Presbyterian Church. A private burial will be in the Sand Hill Cemetery.

Lindsay was born on March 15, 1983, the daughter of Douglas Minns and the late Shirley (Jones) Minns. She was a 2001 graduate of Marcus Whitman High School and went on to become a registered nurse.  She ultimately earned her Masters Degree, becoming a Nurse Practitioner—an accomplishment she took a great deal of pride in. Lindsay touched a lot of lives at the bedside during her career, with her vast knowledge, passion and dedication to her patients.

By far Lindsay’s biggest accomplishment and source of pride were her three daughters.  She loved those girls with every fiber of her being, always with their best interest at heart.  She showed them what it means to have true grit and determination, never backing down from a challenge. Despite her personal struggles, the girls remained enamored with her and proud to have her as their mom.

Lindsay is survived by her three daughters, Avery, Gracyn and Kennedy Craft; the father of her children, Robert Craft; her father, Douglas (Julie Henderson) Minns; brother, Thomas (Caitlyn McHale) Minns; sisters, Susan (Peter) Pulver and Elizabeth (Donald) Jensen; paternal grandmother, Donna Minns as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lindsay was predeceased by her mother, Shirley Jones Minns; and grandparents James Minns, Thomas Jones and Norma Jones.

I was able to work with Lindsay in the PICU for a number of years, and see her outside work too. She was a force to be reckoned with. She was very smart, cared deeply for her patients, and let it be known. I was able to see her again about 6 years ago, which was wonderful, to see how much her life had changed. I was there when she lost her mother, also knowing her sisters too.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a caring and passionate person. May you all cherish the memories and love she gave and you have for each other. Love and prayers.

Janice Masterson from Canandaigua NY on Sep. 3, 2024

With deepest sympathy, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Lindsay at Geneva General. I am a Speech Pathologist and we spoke very often. She shared many things about her life, and I watched her move through her pregnancies. Since she is about the same age as my daughter, I felt so much love for her. I visited her and the girls on Middle Cheshire Rd, brought toy cars for them as I only had grandsons at the time. She was so beautiful and loved her family. She was one of the best nurses and always advocated for them. I am again so sorry for your loss, praying for you all.

Minns family,
I am very sorry to read of Lindsey's passing. I worked with her in the Pediatric ICU for many years. She was an excellent nurse and such a big advocate for her patients. I know she had some personal struggles in her life but she never stopped fighting to be herself. Lindsey was a friend and a good person, gone far too soon.

Vickie Cambalik from Mendon, NY on Sep. 6, 2024

Lindsay's kind and caring spirit will be missed terribly. She was such a gentle soul...and she tried so very hard to get her life to run smoothly. But she was thwarted so often by "the system" which was supposed to support her and did not. She was so happy on the days when her daughters and she were together! I heard about family gatherings at her Dad's with the girls and what special times those were. I admired very much all of the self-help efforts that Lindsay made...focusing on what she needed to maintain her life balance during the past few months. This summer, she took great care to search for Monarch butterfly eggs on milkweed plants...and raised the hatched caterpillars through all of the stages of metamorphosis to adult butterflies. Then, when their wings had stretched out and they were ready, she released them to help repopulate this endangered species. I pray that she is now flying free from all of her former Earthly constraints. Sending love and deep condolences to the entire Craft and Minns family.

Doug, You may not remember. We were your neighbors across from your farm in the Sheppard tenant house. We became acquainted with you through your dog Harley visiting us and having to return him home. Your children were young then and so gracious showing our grandchildren around your farm. We are saddened to hear of your beautiful daughter, Lindsay’s passing. To lose a child, no matter the age, is an impossible goodbye. May the Holy Spirit bring you peace and comfort, knowing Lindsay was loved and is remembered.
